Overview

Laminated business cards have a thin plastic film bonded to both faces after printing. The film protects the ink, stiffens the card slightly and sets the finish you see and feel. On this page every card is laminated; you choose which of three films, which board and how many.

Why choose laminated business cards

Lamination makes a card last longer in real pockets, wallets and vans.

An unlaminated card can rub, mark and dog-ear. A laminated one shrugs off a set of keys in the same pocket and a few drops of rain on the walk to a client. That matters for a roofer, a mobile mechanic or a dog walker whose cards live outdoors as much as indoors.

Matt, gloss or soft touch: how they compare

All three protect the card; they differ in shine and texture.

Laminate Look and feel Good for
Matt, both sides Flat, no glare, calm colours Accountants, consultants, text-led designs
Gloss, both sides Shiny, vivid, colours look deeper Photographers, takeaways, photo-heavy cards
Soft touch, both sides Velvety, muted, tactile Salons, boutiques, wedding businesses

A note on writing

Laminated faces resist pen ink. If you write appointment times on your cards, test a pen first or keep the back simple.

Two card weights

The laminate goes onto either 350gsm silk or 450gsm extra-thick silk.

  • 350gsm silk is the everyday choice: sturdy, slim and economical in large runs.
  • 450gsm silk is noticeably heavier. With a laminate on each side it feels solid and deliberate.

Quantities, printing and timing

Order 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 2,500 or 5,000, printed on the front only or on both sides.

Questions

Quick answers about laminated business cards.

Are laminated business cards waterproof?

The film shields the printed faces from splashes and light rain. The edges are cut card, so a card left soaking will still suffer.

Is matt or gloss lamination better for business cards?

Matt suits text-led, understated designs and avoids glare. Gloss suits photographs and strong colour, which look deeper under the shine.

Are both sides laminated?

Yes. Every lamination option on this page covers both faces of the card.

Can I write on a laminated card?

Ink tends to sit on the film and can smudge. Try a fine permanent pen, or choose an unlaminated card if handwriting matters.

What quantities are available?

100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 2,500 and 5,000. The price per card drops at each step.

How long does production take?

Saver production is from 5 working days. Faster speeds may be offered on the product page.
