Overview
Plastic ID cards are the sort of card people keep for years. Ours are printed on 760 micron white PVC, the same thickness as a credit card, so they feel solid on a lanyard, in a badge holder or in a wallet.
Plastic ID card sizes
One card size, two ways round: 86mm x 54mm landscape or 54mm x 86mm portrait. Landscape suits membership and loyalty cards. Portrait is the usual shape for a staff pass worn on a lanyard, with the photo at the top and the name underneath.
Printing and foil
Print the front only, or both sides with a different design on the back, such as emergency contacts or terms of use. You can also add a metallic foil to the front.
- Gold foil for VIP memberships, hotel cards and premium loyalty schemes.
- Silver foil for a cooler, modern look on gym or club cards.
Signature strip and magnetic stripe
A signature strip is a panel the cardholder can sign with a pen, which plain PVC will not take. It comes in a landscape or portrait position to match your card.
| Magnetic stripe | What it means | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| None | A plain printed card | Photo ID, visitor and staff passes |
| Low-coercivity (LoCo) | Easier to write data to, but a strong magnet can wipe it | Hotel keys, short-term passes, cards reissued often |
| High-coercivity (HiCo) | Needs more energy to write, so it resists accidental wiping | Cards swiped every day for years, such as gym or access cards |
Check which type your card reader or till system uses before you choose. Both types come in landscape or portrait positions.
Quantities
Order 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500 or 5000 cards. A small charity might need 25 volunteer passes, while a leisure centre might order thousands of membership cards. The cost per card falls with larger runs, and live prices are on this page.
Who uses lanyard cards
Schools issuing staff and visitor passes, festivals and conferences, gyms, golf clubs, care agencies and building contractors who need a durable photo card for site workers.
Artwork and production
Upload your print-ready artwork when you order. For staff cards with different names or photos, prepare each version as part of your file. If you need help laying out the card, design help is available as an option at checkout. Every uploaded file is checked for size and resolution before it prints, and with File Check (£4.99) a person checks it too. Saver production is 9 working days, and faster speeds may be offered on the product page.

Questions
Quick answers about plastic lanyard & id cards.
How thick are the plastic cards?
760 micron white PVC, the same thickness as a credit or bank card.
What is the difference between LoCo and HiCo magnetic stripes?
LoCo (low-coercivity) stripes are easier to write to but can be wiped by a strong magnet. HiCo (high-coercivity) stripes take more energy to write and resist accidental wiping, so they suit cards used daily over a long time.
Can cardholders sign the card?
Yes, if you add a signature strip. Plain PVC will not hold pen ink, but the strip is made to be signed. Choose the landscape or portrait position to match your card.
Can I have portrait ID cards?
Yes. Choose 54mm x 86mm portrait, or 86mm x 54mm landscape.
Do you add foil to plastic cards?
You can add gold or silver foil to the front of the card.
What is the minimum order for lanyard cards?
25 cards. Quantities go up to 5000.
How long do plastic cards take?
Saver production is 9 working days from approved artwork. Faster speeds may be offered on the product page.

Only people who bought the product can review it. Each review is checked against a real order and marked "Verified owner".
We publish every genuine review, good or bad, exactly as it was written. We never edit reviews or choose which ones to show. The only reviews we hold back are spam, abuse, or ones that include personal details like a phone number or email address.
The star rating is the average of every published review. We never pay for reviews or give discounts or gifts in return for them.
